Carbon sleeve must put copper rotor in compression or it loosens at low temp due to differential thermal expansion.
Preload is also helpful for maintaining precise gap to stator.
Main advantage of this is a much stronger EM field compared with a rotor that is held together by metal (usually high strength steel).
Other advantage is that rotor can go to higher RPM, as carbon sleeve (mostly) stops copper rotor from expanding due to radial acceleration.
The Plaid carbon-wrapped motor is arguably the most advanced motor on Earth outside of maybe a lab somewhere. We have to keep some secrets!
We have a few ideas for increasing torque & max rpm even further for new Roadster. Definitely fun & exciting engineering ahead!"

0-100 je 3,3 (M3P) vs. 3,2 (S LR), 0-200 verjetno tudi precej podobno, več pa za naše ceste itak ni relevantno. Top speed je pri M3P 11 km/h več, ampak who cares, ta vikend sem šel na morje in sem bil z lagodnih 150 km/h na tempomatu hitrejši od vseh razen 2 poršev in enega bmw. BEV so vozili med 100 in 110 km/h, meni pa 10 min več morja veliko pomeni.

Meni je prevelik S in so še večji stroški. Če že, bi raje počakal orenk update pogonskega sklopa. Špekuliram da bo T3P tam z 800 konji.

Haha, to bo verjetno že z rocket package. Že zdaj je avto prehiter, tudi navaden 3 LR.
Mene zelo mika novi LR Model S, morda čez kako leto ali dve. Res pa je, da je avto prevelik za naše ceste, predvsem zato sem menjal iz S na 3. Vem samo, da Y ne bo naslednik 3, SUV bom vozil oz. me bodo vozili v penziji.

Internet je že poln jokcanja, kako to ni fer saj vsi ostali vozniki na dirkališču niso zares dirkali ampak se samo malo za dolgcaj vozikali okrog. Če bi zares dirkali bi blo vse drugače...

Tako po novem zgleda "vorsprung durch tehnic" ... Audi ma bol kvalitetno plastiko!Just looking, the Tesla Model S Plaid costs less than the Audi Etron GT RS too... A car that weighs 300 pounds more and makes 500 less horsepower.

Vsaj nism edini ...I think I'm probably the only person on this forum who hates these Plaid launch videos because after each one my lizard brain just wants to buy one more and more and more, like I feel like I'm almost developing a mental illness. I certainly don't need one, I could buy four Model 3s and donate them to my local police department for the price of one Plaid, which would be better for the climate. I feel like a bad person for spending so much on a car, but I can't help it, the heart wants what the heart wants and I could be dead from a brain tumor or cancer in six months, I don't know, nobody knows when their time is up. And it's not like I can't afford it.
I realize a forum of Tesla investors is not the place to seek help, but I have to get this off my chest somewhere.
I do not need a Plaid S but I'm going to buy one anyway even though I feel greedy and selfish about it. And the yoke doesn't help either, I really like the yoke, it's looks futuristic and space-agey.
I tell myself I'm not going to watch anymore Plaid videos, but then they get posted here, and I end up watching them anyway, getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger.
I need a Plaid S support group.
